Pianists who are interested in participating in the Piano Program or the Chamber Music Program are encouraged to audition via a pre-recorded video submission.
Students who are unable to submit a pre-recorded video may sign up to perform a real-time live audition via Zoom. Live piano auditions will take place after during Weeks 2 and 3 and will be scheduled individually by the director of the Piano Program.
Note: access to piano practice rooms on campus will not be available until Week 2, so students are encouraged to record their audition before arriving on campus.
Piano Audition Requirements
- Complete the Piano Audition Form and select "Real Time Zoom Audition"; the Director of the Piano Program will contact you to schedule an audition time.
- Prepare 6-8 minutes of audition repertoire.
- You may choose the excerpts you play, but they should demonstrate contrasting moods and styles – something fast and flashy, and something slow and lyrical.
- You do not have to play a complete movement or a complete piece: shorter segments are fine.
- Choose repertoire that you are comfortable with and that will allow you to demonstrate your most confident playing.
