Rockefeller Chapel Choir

James Kallembach, Director

The Rockefeller Chapel Choir and its professional artists-in-residence sing at Sunday services and quarterly evening concerts or evensongs. Major concert works have recently included the Rachmaninov Vespers, Schafer's Medieval Bestiary, and the Bach B Minor Mass with players from the Haymarket Opera Orchestra. An active commissioning program ensures the inclusion of new works by UChicago and international composers, both established and emerging. A major collaborative focus is the Chapel's unparalleled E.M. Skinner pipe organ and its university organists. Chapel Choir's community includes students, faculty, staff, and neighboring vocalists from diverse backgrounds.

The Chapel Choir rehearses weekly on Thursdays, 7:00-9:30 p.m. Visit the Choir in Concert page for information about performances.

Students interested in joining the Rockefeller Chapel Choir must audition at the beginning of Autumn Quarter. Please visit the Auditions page for complete information including audition requirements.

Join Choral Directors James Kallembach and Mollie Stone for an interactive virtual information session about the Department of Music's vocal ensembles and programs on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. CT. The event will be recorded and made available following the session. Please RSVP to attend.
