Sophia Wetzel (she/her/hers) is a PhD student in Music History and Theory at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the intersection of music, narrative, and disability within video games. Her master’s thesis, titled “Music and Mind Games: Disability and Genre in the Psychonauts Series” examined the use of genres as musical topoi within the Psychonauts video game series and their representation of disabled characters within the games. Prior to beginning her studies at the University of Chicago, Sophia received an AM in Music from Washinton University in Saint Louis and a BMUS in Theory and Composition from Arizona State University. In her increasingly limited free time, Sophia enjoys playing video games, knitting, and spending time with her beloved dog, Ellie.
