The premiere of There’s No Fish in Lake Michigan!, a video project by UChicago Percussion Ensemble members Allegra Hatem, Mac Rescorl, and Joshua Silver, will take place this Friday, June 3 at 4:30 PM in Fulton Recital Hall. The documentary explores the world of salmon fishing on the south side of Chicago. The screening will be accompanied by music written by Clay Mettens, a Teaching Fellow in the Division of the Humanities. The music includes a commission from the Percussion Ensemble performed by members of the ensemble, as well as a piano and marimba duo performed by Percussion Ensemble Director John Corkill and Director of Piano Studies Eugenia Jeong. The music was recorded for this film screening by PhD candidate Hunter Brown. This screening features many UChicago musicians, from undergraduate students, to graduate students, to faculty, and connects the Department of Music to its home in the south side of Chicago.
