Baahar Desh: Songs and Music of South Asia
This winter, the South Asian Music Ensemble invites you to a journey through the diverse songscapes of South Asia, where ragas serve as both foundation and inspiration. From Bhajans in Orissa to the music of Rohingya refugees, from classical raga traditions to Rabindra Sangeet, this concert explores the many ways by which raga, tala, and poetry—both explicitly and implicitly—shape musical expression, emotion, and experience across the subcontinent.
