THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2022
Due to concerns over the rapid spread of COVID-19, due in part to the Omicron variant, UChicago Presents, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, and the Reva & David Logan Center for the Arts have made the difficult decision to postpone Hypocrisy of Justice: Sights and Sounds from the Black Metropolis performances and symposium.
We are planning to reschedule the events for Fall 2022 and look forward to sharing more information as soon as it is available. To learn more about the project, please visit the Hyde Park Jazz Festival website.

Hypocrisy of Justice: Sights and Sounds from the Black Metropolis
A continuation of Dana Hall’s 2015 collaboration with dramaturg/writer/director/actor Cheryl Lynn Bruce and artist Kerry James Marshall, this program reconvenes and commissions these three artists to further develop and restage the work. “Hypocrisy of Justice” explores inequities within systems and institutions, along with lived experience of confinement, redemption, hope, and home.
In addition to performances on the evenings of January 14th and 15th at the Logan Center, a free day-long symposium will be open to the public on January 15th.
Supported by the Revada Foundation and the Reva and David Logan Foundation. Presented in partnership with Chicago Jazz Magazine, DownBeat Magazine, Hyde Park Jazz Fest, Jazz Institute Chicago, WDCB 90.9 FM.
