The Early Music Ensemble is a historically-oriented performance group that encompasses both vocalists and instrumentalists. Ensemble repertoire is drawn from 15th- to 17th-century sources, with special emphasis on historically-informed performance practices including reading from original notation, improvisation, and ornamentation. The Early Music Ensemble also provides a forum for undergraduate majors and graduate students in music who wish to explore and activate musical traditions and repertories related to their scholarly research.

Participation in the group is open to anyone in the University community with music-reading experience. In lieu of auditions, the Early Music Ensemble hosts an annual open house for interested musicians in the beginning of Autumn Quarter. All interested musicians as well as intrigued novices are invited to attend. This year's open house will be on Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00-9:00 PM in Goodspeed Room 703. If you are interested in participating in the Early Music Ensemble, you must attend the open house. RSVP here.
