Nathalie Joachim will share the journey from her earliest musical engagement in the practice of oral history with her grandmother in Haiti, to her career as a composer, vocalist, flutist, and educator with storytelling at the center of her creative practice. Shared works to include an exclusive look at her forthcoming sophomore album, Ki moun ou ye, and recent works for orchestra, chamber music, and more.
About Nathalie Joachim
Nathalie Joachim is a Grammy-nominated performer and composer. The Haitian-American artist is hailed for being “powerful and unpretentious” (The New York Times), while engaging her creative practice to advocate for social change and cultural awareness. Joachim is Assistant Professor of Music Composition at Princeton University and co-founder of the critically acclaimed duo Flutronix. Recent commissions include new works for St. Louis Symphony, Yale University's Schwarzman Center, So Percussion, Roomful of Teeth, and Imani Winds; and forthcoming are her sophomore solo album, Ki moun ou ye, in addition to new works for Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Spoleto Festival.
