Afro-Cuban Folkloric Ensemble Open House

The Afro-Cuban Folkloric Ensemble performs in Fulton Recital Hall

September 30, 2024 | 6:30PM
Goodspeed Hall Room 402

The Afro-Cuban Folkloric Ensemble explores this unique musical tradition still practiced today in Cuba. This African diaspora-based music and culture is a living example of how art can be a manifestation of the human desire to stay connected to one’s roots, ancestors, belief system, and home, even in the darkest of situations. Born of deep African origins, this form involves hand drumming, percussion, and singing.

All undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate. Community members interested in the art, culture, and music are also welcome. All participants work together to make music while utilizing and expanding their own personal skills. No requirements regarding prior musical background are required to participate in the ensemble.

In lieu of auditions, the Afro-Cuban Folkloric Ensemble will host an open house rehearsal during their first rehearsal on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 6:30-8:00 PM in Goodspeed Hall, 402. If you are interested in participating in the ensemble, you must attend the open house.
