John Corkill, Director of the Percussion Ensemble, presents a concert of works revolving around various levels of distortion to pure acoustic sound. In the first work, the distortion is straightforward and simple using vibrato, but slowly morphs throughout the program to include electronically generated sounds through mapping the light path of an IKEA lamp.
The concert features pieces by living composers, including Augusta Read Thomas, Jennifer Bellor, Emma O’Halloran, Ted Moore, and Stefano D’Alessio.
