Award-winning flutist Adam W. Sadberry is joined by pianist Yoshiko Arahata for a program of musical journalism, highlighting the story of Sadberry’s grandfather, Civil Rights journalist L. Alex Wilson. Wilson covered the murder of Emmett Till in 1955 and the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957. The injuries Wilson sustained during these historic events led to his early death in 1960. Sadberry has dedicated much of his career to promoting his grandfather's legacy through musical commissions and thoughtfully curated programs.

The program includes the 2023 commissioned piece highlighting the bravery of his grandfather’s journalism —  __not running by Dameun Strange — alongside works by Valerie Coleman, Adolphus Hailstork, and others. The performance will be followed by a reception with the artist.
