The music of Brazil has been a vital resource for numerous musicians across jazz history. Artists such as Stan Getz, Duke Pearson, and Pat Metheny have passionately drawn from the music of Brazilian composers Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, Elis Regina, Toninho Horta, and Milton Nascimento, to name a few, as vehicles to expand their art. For the final concert, the Jazz Ensemble will follow in this tradition and explore the lyrical melodies, rich harmonies, and complex rhythms of a range of Brazilian musical genres and composers including chorinho, samba, Baião, bossa nova, and popular music selections by such artists as Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Elis Regina, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Pixinguinha.
Free Admission.
This concert will be livestreamed here on our website and on our YouTube channel.
