Fulton Recital Hall, Goodspeed Hall 4th Floor

Lawrence Zbikowski, Addie Clark Harding Professor in the Department of Music and the College and Department Chair in the Department of Music, will present a recital of guitar music, including works by Fernando Sor, Giulio Regondi, and Manuel M. Ponce.

  • Fernando Sor (1778–1839) – Le calme, caprice (op. 50), c. 1832
  • Giulio Regondi (1822–1872) – Three Études, c. 1857
  • Manuel M. Ponce (1882–1948) – Sonatina meridional, 1930

Sor and Regondi were guitar virtuosos of the 19th century; Ponce was among the most prominent Mexican composers of the early twentieth century, and wrote many pieces (including the Sonatina meridional) for the Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia. This program shows how much compositions for guitar changed over the century spanned by these works. Complimentary tea and cookies are served at 4:15 PM, and the music begins at 4:30 PM.

Free admission. No tickets required.
