Zach Loeffler is a musicologist and guitarist whose work explores the affective components of music making in global scenes of performance since the eighteenth century. He earned his Ph.D. in the History and Theory of Music from the University of Chicago in 2018. His book in progress tracks the association of music with magic in global capitalist culture since about 1900. Zach currently teaches philosophy and music courses in the College Core.
