2017-2018 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Music Composition

The newly established Center for Contemporary Composition in the Department of Music within the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable Postdoctoral Fellowship in Music Composition, beginning Autumn 2017. This singular opportunity will allow a young composer to gain unprecedented exposure and intellectual engagement in the dynamic setting of the University of Chicago’s prestigious music composition program. 

The inaugural Postdoctoral Fellow Scholar in Music Composition will teach a course in the University’s undergraduate Core Curriculum, teach private composition lessons to undergraduate composers, and participate in the University, Department and Center’s workshops, seminars, and colloquia. The Fellow Scholar will be given space, time, and resources to develop new works for performance by the Center’s professional ensembles-in-residence. The Fellow Scholar will receive competitive salary; full benefits; and a research, travel, and equipment allowance. The effective date for this appointment will be September 1, 2017.
