40th Anniversary: Barbara Schubert with the University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Join University Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor Barbara Schubert, friends, and current USO musicians for a special anniversary celebration, June 3 & 4, 2016. See Schubert conduct the USO in the world premiere performance of Catálogo Fantástico by composer Ricardo Lorenz, PhD'99, who created the commissioned work -- using the UChicago course catalog as his inspiration -- in honor of Schubert's 40th anniversary holding the baton. Event details

Starting June 1, 2016 - Fulton Recital Hall:  The 40 Years of Dedication and Excellence: Barbara Schubert and the University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra exhibition celebrates the commitment and longevity of music director and conductor Barbara Schubert. This lively exploration of leadership, performance, and progress features notable programs, iconic costumes, Maestra Schubert’s baton, and memorable images that showcase the immersive experience of USO participation. Hands-on interactives place you on the podium to observe an orchestra from the vantage point known to few others.
