I'm very happy to announce that Stefan Love has accepted an appointment as full-time Lecturer in Music Theory in the Department of Music, starting on July 1, 2012. Central among his activities will be to teach entry-level undergraduate theory, Music 15100-15200-15300, "Harmony and Voice Leading," and to supervise its CAs.
Stefan earned his PhD in Music Theory in 2011 at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, with a dissertation on "Phrase Rhythm in Jazz." He is a jazz pianist who also wrote a BA thesis on jazz at Brown University (AB 2006). Currently Stefan is completing a year as Visiting Instructor in Music Theory at Oberlin College. He has published in the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy and has an article forthcoming in Music Theory Spectrum. Stefan is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, among his other honors and awards.
