Mwata Bowden, other Chicago musicians bridge jazz boundaries with French contemporaries

The language of music knows no borders. This is exemplified in The Bridge, a project that has paired some of the best in improvisational jazz in Chicago with some spectacular contemporaries from France. Together they explored new sonic realms in avant-garde jazz for eager ears. Reed instrument master Mwata Bowden, UChicago's Director of Jazz Ensembles, was involved in the latest iteration, Bridge #4, along with cornetist Rob Mazurek, and bassist Matt Lux. They played alongside Julien Desprez on electric guitar and Mathieu Sourisseau on accoustic bass guitar.
