Mandel Hall

The University Symphony Orchestra concludes its 2025-26 concert season with two performances of a special “Opus 50” Concert, celebrating the extraordinary tenure of Music Director Barbara Schubert as Music Director and Conductor of the USO and her profound impact on generations of students, faculty, staff, and community musicians at the University.  As part of this celebration, a USO Alumni Orchestra made up of former USO members from the past 50 years opens the concert with Johannes Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture.  The University Symphony Orchestra, University Chorus, and Motet Choir then join forces for a stirring performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor, Resurrection, with acclaimed soloists Camille Robles, mezzo-soprano, and Elisabeth Marshall, soprano.

Free admission, with donations appreciated: $10 general, $5 students.

This concert will be livestreamed here on our website and on the Department of Music’s YouTube channel.

The first performance of this program takes place on Saturday, May 9 at 8 PM
