Chicago Student Life
Life at The University of Chicago is an intense process of discovery through individual research and collective debate. Students are fiercely committed to their studies. Many are also variously involved in performance, in travel, in cultural outings, in wider political and social life, and in a whole variety of avocations ranging from baseball to cooking. As one of the nation’s most diverse campuses, Chicago challenges individuals to be open to new ideas and experiences, whether learning an obscure language or improvising on a romancesca.
The University of Chicago is an academic powerhouse located just ten minutes south of the heartland of one of the world’s greatest cities. The third largest metropolitan area in the United States, Chicago has a long history of vigorous support for museums, parks, libraries, and theaters. Its great architectural tradition is visible in its dazzling skyline. And its many different ethnic groups allow its inhabitants to explore a rich variety of musical, cultural, and culinary traditions. All in all, Chicago is one of the University’s greatest assets.
