Applying to Chicago
Undergraduate Application
Undergraduate admissions are handled by the Office of College Admissions. There are no separate auditions or applications required, but students with extensive musical training are encouraged to include a recording with their application materials. Submit your recording directly to the College, along with the rest of your application, and it will be reviewed by a member of the Music Department specialized in performance or composition. For more information, see the frequently asked questions list.
After exploring all of the information on this website and applying through the College admissions office, applicants with further questions about the undergraduate program should contact the director of undergraduate studies, Prof. Kaley Mason.
Graduate Application
Graduate Applications are due by December 15, 2009. Students who wish to apply for graduate study in the Department of Music should fill out the Humanities Division on-line application.
All supporting materials should be sent directly to the Humanities Division. Do not submit material to the Music Department directly. All applicants are required to submit at least two writing samples. Composers should also submit recent scores.
After exploring these pages and the detailed Ph.D. requirements, applicants with further questions should contact musicadmissions@uchicago.edu or (773) 702-2089.
