Rockefeller Chapel Choir Rockefeller Chapel Choir Rockefeller Chapel Choir

Director: James Kallembach
Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:00 - 9:30 pm, Rockefeller Chapel

This select choir of 30-40 voices performs sacred masterworks of all periods and styles for the weekly Sunday morning services in the magnificent acoustic of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.  The full Rockefeller Chapel Choir sings six or seven Sundays per academic quarter in a liturgical schedule that includes complete settings of the Mass, from Palestrina to Vaughan Williams, as well as selections from various World Music traditions. The Rockefeller Sixteen, chosen from within the larger group, sings two to three Sundays each quarter and focuses on music written before 1700.  The full choir also presents a quarterly Choral Evensong program and two or three additional concerts each year.  Recent seasons have featured Bach's St. John Passion with period instruments and important world premieres of commissioned music.  Membership in the Rockefeller Chapel Choir includes active professional singers from the Chicago area as well as auditioned students, faculty, and community members.

Vocal auditions are held during Orientation Week at the beginning of autumn quarter. Visit the auditions page for more information.
