Director: Barbara Schubert
Rehearsals: Weekends by arrangement, Fulton Recital Hall
The New Music Ensemble is a group of highly accomplished musicians who are devoted to presenting music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The New Music Ensemble performs three to four concerts per season. Repertoire is an eclectic mix of works by well-known contemporary giants, experimental projects in the musical avant-garde, and premieres of new pieces by University of Chicago composition students (both undergraduate and graduate), as well as select classics of the early twentieth century. Accomplished instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers are encouraged to participate in the New Music Ensemble: the personnel varies from quarter to quarter, according to the specific programming needs. U. of C. composers are encouraged to submit scores for consideration as early as possible during the school year.
Instrumental auditions are held during Orientation Week at the beginning of autumn quarter. Students should indicate interest in playing contemporary repertoire at the audition. Visit the auditions page for more information.

Saturday, February 20 at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m.
