Motet Choir Motet Choir Motet Choir

Director: James Kallembach
Rehearsals: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 12:00 - 1:20 pm, Fulton Recital Hall

As the premiere undergraduate choral ensemble at the University of Chicago, the Motet Choir accepts 28-36 voices each year.  Concentrating on a cappella masterworks of all periods, this polished vocal ensemble frequently performs music of the Renaissance, but also includes historically and culturally diverse repertoire from Gregorian Chant to Gospel standards within its programs.  The Motet Choir performs at least three major concerts per year (one each quarter) and sings at convocations and special events, such as last year's pre-concert performance at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Symphony Center.  The Motet Choir goes on tour every second year during the University’s spring break.  In 2010 the ensemble will head to the Twin Cities, touring through Madison, Eau Claire, St. Paul, and Minneapolis.

Vocal auditions are held during Orientation Week at the beginning of autumn quarter.
Visit the auditions page for more information.
