Ensembles | Chamber Music Program

Director: Amy Briggs
Rehearsals: Arranged

A wide-ranging and inclusive Chamber Music Program provides numerous opportunities for student musicians interested in all types of chamber music.  Chamber music groups are set up at the beginning of the year, and then guided in the selection of repertoire and coached regularly by Department staff members Amy Briggs, Adam Liebert, and Svetlana Belsky.  Periodic coaching opportunities with members of the Pacifica Quartet and eighth blackbird are available as well.  Chamber music ensembles are encouraged to participate in quarterly Chamber Music Master Classes and to perform on the Thursday Noontime Concert Series or on the several Chamber Music Showcase concerts that take place each year.  Additional off-campus performance opportunities are likewise available.

All musicians who are interested in chamber music should sign up for an audition (i.e., either instrumental or piano), held during Orientation Week and the first week of autumn quarter.  Interested players are then assigned to chamber music groups with other players of similar interests and abilities. Visit the auditions page for more information.
