Performance Program
About
Do you play? Do you sing?
Over 550 talented musicians from throughout the University and community join together in the Department of Music’s Performance Program, presenting over 100 concerts per year. Ensembles and programs include the University Symphony Orchestra, University Wind Ensemble, University Chamber Orchestra, University Chorus, Motet Choir, Rockefeller Chapel Choir, Jazz X-tet, New Music Ensemble, Middle East Music Ensemble, Central Javanese Gamelan, Chamber Music Program, and Piano Program. Enhanced by the vibrant cultural life of the city, Chicago’s extra-curricular Performance Program offers rich and varied opportunities for musicians of all interests and levels. You do not have to be a music major to participate.
Faculty, ensemble directors, and staff members nurture each player’s technical and artistic growth and encourage a lifelong commitment to music, regardless of academic concentration or career choice. Undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, alumni, faculty and staff members, spouses, and community musicians are all welcome. Rehearsals and concert schedules are carefully designed to prevent conflicts with classes, as well as to allow membership in multiple programs.
Join us to experience great music, to enhance your skills and complement your academic pursuits, to explore new idioms and elevate your passions, and – most of all – to enjoy campus life to the fullest.
