Elinor Flanders, Chamber Music Coordinator

Nell Flanders is a musician of great versatility and maintains an active performing schedule on both violin and viola. She has toured internationally with the blues-classical crossover group Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues and can be heard on their live CD released in 2005 on Alligator Records; is a founding member of the Rhode Island based ensemble Musica Maris; and performs locally with the quartet Tango Bohemia. A strong interest in contemporary music has led to performances with Pocket Opera of Chicago, Ensemble Noamnesia, Cube, and ICE. Flanders is also a dedicated instructor: in addition to coaching ensembles at the University of Chicago, she teaches violin and chamber music at the VanderCook College of Music and has a private teaching studio.

Flanders earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a major in Violin Performance and a minor in Piano Performance, as well as a Master of Music degree from the University of Akron. She was also a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
