Kotoka Suzuki, Assistant Professor of Music, is a composer of instrumental and electro-acoustical music, large multi-media production works, and music for dance and film. Since her artist-in-residency at DAAD Berliner Künstlerprogramm, she has been increasingly engaged in producing collaborative audio-visual works with several artists in Germany, Canada, and the U.S. Her works have been performed at festivals such as Inventionen, MATA, Ultraschall, World Music Days, and ICMC, by performers such as Arditti String Quartet, Continuum, Pacifica Quartet, Earplay Ensemble, and Nouvel Ensemble Modern (Montréal). Among her recent awards include George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Fellowship, Bourges International Electroacoustic Music and Sonic Art Competition Prize in multimedia category, Musica Nova International Electroacoustic Music Competition Honor Prize, Robert Fleming Prize from Canada Council for the Arts, and Gerald Oshita Fellowship Award from Djerassi Resident Artists Program.
