Thomas Christensen

Thomas Christensen, Professor of Music, is a theorist and historian of music theory with special interests in 18th-century intellectual history, problems in tonal theory, historiography, and aesthetics. He is the author of numerous books and articles, including Rameau and Musical Thought in the Enlightenment; most recently he has edited the Cambridge History of Western Music Theory (Cambridge, 2002). Professor Christensen served as President of the Society for Music Theory (1999-2001), and is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships. Ph.D., Yale, 1985; at Chicago since 1999.
