Newberry Consort

Ensemble-in-residence at the Newberry Library, Northwestern University's School of Music, and the University of Chicago, the Newberry Consort is an early-music, original-instrument chamber ensemble. The Consort brings early music to the general public through performances, recordings, and related educational activities. Drawing on the Newberry Library's vast holdings in the music of the 13th through 17th centuries, the Consort uses original sources and scholarly editions as the bases for its performances. Consort members are Mary Springfels, viola da gamba; Drew Minter, countertenor; David Douglass, violin and director; and Ellen Hargis, soprano. For more information, visit the Consort's web site.
