Several exceptional professional music ensembles call Chicago their academic home. As artists-in-residence, these groups devote special attention to Department students, giving lectures, leading sectionals, and offering coachings, open rehearsals and performances in addition to their professional engagements on campus.
Chicago’s artists-in-residence also anchor the acclaimed Contempo performance series. Featuring works of student composers and other contemporary chamber pieces, Contempo offers engaging and insightful performances of cutting-edge compositions.
