Administrative Staff

Ian Martínez joined the University of Chicago Presents as Director of Communications in 2007. He handles marketing and public relations efforts for the professional concerts series, including the Howard M. Brown Early Music Series and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra residency.

A percussionist by trade, Ian graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1999 with degrees in graphic design and music, specializing in music history and literature. Prior to his appointment in Chicago, he served as publications manager for both the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He was also part of the creative team for the Borders Group headquarters in Ann Arbor. Since 2000, he has worked with award-winning high school marching bands and competition drumlines, most recently as an assistant director/arranger for Arcadia High School in Ohio.
