Season Highlights

The performance ensembles at the University of Chicago are known for their substantive and innovative approach to concert programming. Every season includes a meaningful selection of great masterworks as well as a blend of lesser-known treasures of the repertoire, contemporary music and world premieres, plus distinctive, cross-disciplinary projects. Highlights of recent seasons have included the University Symphony Orchestra’s silent-film-score presentations of Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin and Traubert and Kozintsev’s New Babylon; Rockefeller Chapel Choir’s premieres of works by William Bolcom and Robert Kyr; the Jazz X-tet’s appearances at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival and Chicago Jazz Festival; the University Chorus and Motet Choir’s Sim Shalom and all-Stravinsky programs; and the University Chamber Orchestra’s presentation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado and The Sorcerer with the Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company.
