Nurturing a life-long love of music.

The Department of Music’s wide-ranging Performance Program involves over 600 student musicians in fifteen different ensembles and programs, which cover a broad spectrum of historical periods and cultural perspectives and present over 100 concerts every year. Ensembles range in size from small chamber groups to a full-size symphony orchestra and wind ensemble, and range in focus from European Renaissance music to contemporary idioms of the Middle East, India, and Java. Performances likewise encompass many formats, from informal coffee house presentations to large-scale performances of major choral-symphonic literature. Professional soloists regularly appear with the ensembles, whose repertoire includes both masterpieces of the literature and little-known treasures.
