Logan Arts Center to open in 2011

In 2011, the University of Chicago will open a major multi-arts center, the Reva and David Logan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (D-LAC). D-LAC is a venue for multi-disciplinary artistic expression, exploration, and presentation by faculty and students where music is central. The Department looks forward to new rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and a 450-seat auditorium. Designed by the Tod Williams Billie Tsien architecture firm, the Logan Arts Center will be a campus home for creative inquiry and music-making.

Department Facilities

Students at the Department of Music learn, teach, and perform in a variety of well-equipped spaces. The Department’s performance ensembles infuse the University with music, holding concerts campus-wide in various venues. Chicago students also have access to one of the premiere library systems in the world, which is home to a vast array of scholarly books, manuscripts, and recordings. Goodspeed Hall is the anchor facility of the Music Department, and is always bustling with classes, workshops, lectures, rehearsals, practicing, and concerts.
