Wet Ink, co-directed by Assistant Professor Sam Pluta, named Best Ensemble of 2018 by The New York Times
Last week The New York Times printed its list of "Best Classical Music of 2018," naming Wet Ink the best ensemble. Assistant Professor of Composition Sam Pluta is one seven world class composers, improvisers, and interpreters that collaborate to co-direct the ensemble.
Anna C. Schultz receives Society of Ethnomusicology's Jaap Kunst Prize Honorable Mention
The Department of Music is pleased to share the news that Associate Professor of Music and the Humanities Anna C. Schultz has received the Jaap Kunst Prize 2018 Honorable Mention for her article "Translated Fronts: Songs of Socialist Cosmopolitanism in Cold War India." History and Anthropology 28, no. 1 (2017): 1-22.

Ensemble-in-Residence, Sweet Honey In The Rock, visits campus for a variety of activities November 6 through 10
The internationally acclaimed, Grammy Award-nominated female African American a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey In The Rock® begins its 2018-19 season residency at the University of Chicago with a wide variety of programs designed to impact the campus, the community, and the city of Chicago. The Ensemble-in-Residence events will be held November 6 through November 10 at venues across the UChicago campus.
