Positioned at the heart of a world-renowned academic institution, the Department of Music offers graduate degrees in Composition, Ethnomusicology, and Music History and Theory. The Department also offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Complementing them is a lively performance program that involves undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students.

Sweet Honey In The Rock Appointed Ensemble-in-Residence for the 2018-19 Season

The internationally acclaimed, Grammy Award-nominated female African American a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey In The Rock® has been appointed the Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Chicago for the 2018-19 season. This appointment follows a highly successful two-year residency of Imani Winds, a cutting-edge, Grammy Award-nominated woodwind quintet that has contributed meaningfully to the University and surrounding communities.
